There is something to love about working on wood. I decided for this commission to use charcoal on a gessoed wood panel surface. The wood texture shows through a bit and gives more character to the piece. This was done for a friend in Ontario from a photograph...the pose in the photo was captured as a bit of a "happy accident."
Having been drawing and painting since I was about five years old...it is only just now that I have decided to take a break from university and focus on what I love to do best. My inspiration comes from shapes and colour - so much rich juicy colour that the image seems to vibrate with its intensity. This blog is a chronicle of my journeys as a struggling artist, as well as an aspiring chef, marathon runner and intrepid world traveller.
